Can CDC stop wearing masks even if there are more than 35,000 new COVID-19 cases every day in the United States? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Thursday that those who were fully vaccinated would not need face masks or social distancing in outdoor and indoor situations.

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said at a White House COVID-19 briefing, “If you are fully vaccinated, you can start doing what you stopped because of the epidemic.” , You are protected… You can definitely wear a mask if you want, but we’re saying it’s safe in such an environment based on science.”

The new guidelines are a dramatic shift from the CDC’s recommendations in the early days of the epidemic, encouraging healthy people to wear masks primarily for: Etc. The new guidelines seem to focus on wearing a mask because vaccinated people can still potentially host and spread the virus to others.

“People who are not fully vaccinated in such an environment [and] Not wearing an unprotected mask,” said Walensky.

“I was able to understand the new instructions. But frankly, we are still in the midst of a pandemic and we need to think clearly about the dangers we face. “The CDC guidelines are important, but it’s also important to understand yourself how to get rid of the virus.”

For those who are not yet fully vaccinated, Edwards recommends wearing a mask and social distancing in high-risk situations. When traveling, for example, you must wear a double mask, Edwards says. “There are certainly risks, especially for long flights.”

Another key consideration that isn’t mentioned often is hydration. “It’s not that important to drink a lot of alcohol. waterBut about hydrating the upper airways,” Edwards told Observer. “Science has shown that breathing very dry air increases the risk. This is because dry upper airways produce many breathing droplets that carry pathogens that can infect themselves and others. And many air conditioning environments are very dry.”

Edwards recommends carrying a spray mist bottle with you when traveling home with a humidifier. A bonus tip is to sprinkle a little salt on the liquid. “The way the lungs moisturize the upper respiratory tract is through salt,” he explained. “Delivery of water droplets to the upper respiratory tract along with certain types of salt in the body leads to additional hydration that reduces the risk [of getting sick].”

The CDC still says that people who are fully vaccinated should wear a face mask if required by state or local law. The new guidelines also do not apply to healthcare facilities, correctional facilities, and homeless shelters.
