Microsoft is hosting a special Surface hardware event on September 22nd. Software manufacturers have started sending out media invitations for hardware events this fall, but they’re only going online and not in person. Expect Microsoft to announce a successor to the Surface Duo and a new Surface laptop.
Leaked images of Microsoft’s upcoming Surface Duo 2 device appeared online in July, and we expect to see the official announcement of this Android-based dual-screen hardware on September 22. According to leaked images, the biggest change will be a triple camera system with telephoto, ultra-wide and standard lenses. The Surface Duo 2 is also rumored to include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor, 5G support, and an NFC chip for contactless payments.
Rumors are circulating that Microsoft will launch a successor to the Surface Book 3 alongside the Surface Duo 2. Windows Central However, Microsoft previously reported that the Surface Book 4 may not be named. Instead, it is most likely a Surface Laptop Pro or similar. That’s because Microsoft is redesigning its high-end laptops to switch to non-removable 14-inch displays.
The October 5th release of Windows 11 would not have been complete without an update to the Surface Pro lineup. Microsoft released the new Surface Pro 7 Plus earlier this year, but it was meant for business. We’re looking forward to a more polished Surface Pro design that takes advantage of the latest Windows 11 features. Microsoft’s teaser image also includes a Surface Pro.
