Here’s how the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro compare to Samsung and Apple

OnePlus has launched a new batch of phones, the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro. Like the OnePlus tradition, the phone is equipped with Snapdragon’s latest high-end chips and is cheaper than most competitors.

Both phones also include charging features that Apple and Samsung can’t compare. It can charge wirelessly at ultra-fast 50W and charge at 65W via wired charging. Both have Hasselblad’s camera tuning and software.

The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are very similar, but there are a few differences that you should be aware of.

  • The Pro has a bigger screen.
  • The Pro includes a telephoto camera and mmWave 5G.
  • The unlocked and T-Mobile versions of the Pro are IP68 certified. Only the T-Mobile version of the desk phone is IP68 certified.
  • The Pro includes “Hyper Touch” which polls for finger input at 360Hz.

At retail price, the regular OnePlus 9 is $70 cheaper than Samsung’s regular Galaxy S21 and $100 cheaper than the iPhone 12. Both phones come with mmWave and IP68 water resistance, but if that’s not the feature you’re interested in, you may. It’s worth saving.

The 9 Pro doesn’t match all the specs and features of the Galaxy S21 Ultra, but the price is also much lower. For fun we also threw Oppo’s latest flagship phone, which is very similar to the Pro, although not available for purchase in the US.
